a little about me

Hello! My name is Sarah, pronounced Sah-Rah. Not many know this but I was born in Italy, Region of Lazio. We came back to Australia when I was 3 and I mostly spoke Italian as a child. I was quite energetic and found the only way to calm my hyper-active nature was to sit in front of a pile of picture books. I remember eye scanning each page and being admired by the illustrations.

This up-beat energy carried me throughout my primary school & high school years but I was still terribly shy to a fault. I never liked being centre of attention, often hiding behind people, suffered from low self esteem and day dreamed more than necessary. My love for art & design never left me and they were really the only subjects that I enjoyed.

 

I've studied multiple creative fields - Visual Arts, Visual Merchandising & Interior Design. It wasn't until 2023 that I started re-visiting my passion for illustrating and visual story telling. I love brainstorming characters and getting lost in my creations. My big affinity for animals and quiet moments is reflected in my work. I'm not much for using explosive colours either, pastels and muted colours seem to support my work best.

 

You will often find me on walks out in nature, exploring op shops and antique stores around Melbourne, gardening (i honestly find it so therapeutic and squeal any time I see something that i've planted is thriving), cozying up to a big mug of tea and being fully present in my creative corner. These moments remind me of the beauty in simplicity and the gratitude I feel for being able to enjoy them.
